Absences NOT counted against the discretionary 10-day absence total (SR, IS/OS, DR): 

• School Related (SR) When a student is absent due to a school-sponsored or school-approved event. These absences must be pre-approved through the attendance office. 
• In School or Out of School Suspension (IS/OS) Disciplinary action that results in the exclusion of a student from classes and/or extra-curricular activities for a specified period of time.
• Doctor note provided (DR) An absence that is medically cleared through written documentation from a licensed healthcare provider within 48 hours of absence.
• Parent/guardian request to be absent from instruction regarding human sexuality.

No Call (NC) absences that have not been pre-approved or excused, within 48 hours of the absence, by a parent or guardian.

10-Day Absence Procedure

If a student accumulates more than 10 absences (AB, NC, PA) in any class period during a semester, he/she is in violation of the absence limit. After 10 absences are accumulated (excluding only SR, IS/OS  and DR) in a class period, the student will meet with the Attendance Committee to review their situation, determine extenuating circumstances, establish a support system, and identify solutions. Additionally, the student is not eligible to participate in extracurricular activities (athletics, field trips, club trips, class trips, ski trips, pep band, pep bus, etc.) UNLESS the student completes 45 minutes of study table for every absence that exceeds 10 in a semester.

Absences NOT counted against the discretionary 10-day absence total (SR, IS/OS, DR): 

• School Related (SR) When a student is absent due to a school-sponsored or school-approved event. These absences must be pre-approved through the attendance office. 
• In School or Out of School Suspension (IS/OS) Disciplinary action that results in the exclusion of a student from classes and/or extra-curricular activities for a specified period of time.
• Doctor note provided (DR) An absence that is medically cleared through written documentation from a licensed healthcare provider within 48 hours of absence.
• Parent/guardian request to be absent from instruction regarding human sexuality.

Absences that ARE counted against the discretionary 10-day absence total:

• bereavement
• weather-related
• non-school sponsored activities (i.e. all-star tourney, college visits, 4-H, etc.)
